I love the Weed Dragon. However, please do not use fire to clear tall or dense weeds (or around wood structures) - if you don't know why, don't buy this product. I have found that I don't need a large flame to be effective (although it is very satisfying to wield back-yard flame thrower it wastes gas and is more hazardous) - the hottest part is not in the flame anyway.
No doubt. Then a gentle sweep of the flame makes short work of weeds. My sister gave it to me and told me that she was going to win "Sister of the Year".
I adjust the flame so when I hold the weed dragon comfortably above the ground it takes one or two seconds to wilt the leaves. It is the best/most fun way to kill weeds in gravel, pavement, or between paving stones and to clear a weed-filled yard (see warning below). Give a man a weed dragon and never see a weed again. As has been mentioned in other reviews - you do not need to incinerate weeds: just wilt the leaves (or blades if they are grass-like weeds) and the next day they are dead.
(note: it is the heat which kills - not the flame - so you don't have to keep the flame directly on each weed if you're clearing a patch)Regarding the complaint about established weeds - I found it quite effective at killing weeds up to six or eight inches tall (but occasionally I hit them again another day if they have woody stalks). Also, you won't want to use a Weed Dragon on flower beds or the lawn.My only complaint is "It works too well, so I do not get to use it as often as I'd like." I used to take it to my friend's houses but then they saw how much fun it was and now they all have their own Weed Dragons.
The torch was easily adjustable with plenty of flame to dry and start even damp wood. I was looking for a torch to start brush pile fires while clearing land. The torch makes starting fires simpler and safer than using flammable liquids. I will use it later to help maintain reemergence of some of the light brush. The price was 1/3 less than any other source.
I will never again waste money on Roundup. Not only is the weed dragon fun to use, you see the result in minutes. I can't wait to try and cook hot dogs with it.
The red dragon smorts out flames by way of an adjustable control nob on the shaft. When the nob is just cracked it has a gentile flame, but when you open the nob all the way, watch your feet. This thing does due a great job on the weeds,I will put it to a test this winter melting the ice at the end of driveway.
Very easy to use. I would have given it five stars if the handle and hose were a little longer.
